I started this blog because I realized that as I am nearing my 26th Birthday, my education has made my brain a rather expensive item. This isn't a bad thing in and of itself... my parents were kind and fortunate enough to be a position where they could spend money on my education and for that I am grateful. My Oma (or Grandmother) helped to take my education further by savingand investing money almost before my birth might have suggested the need for a post secondary education... So, for 3 of the 4 years I spent in university, I didn't have to worry about tuition or living expenses. This gave me plenty of time to prepare for my final year and unlike many people my age, I am not in student debt and I am really pleased with my degree in Social Sciences.
However, after 7 years in a private school and 4 years in University, my education should have easily cost my family over $200 000. This was not a problem when things were going well for my parents and the economy was humming along, but now that my Dad is nearing retirement and the Economy seems to be experiencing some long term turbulence, I thought it would be a good idea to give something back. Sometimes it makes me sick to think of all the people who did not get the opportunities to get educated as I did, even if it is just the basics of reading and writing. While I am not suggesting this blog will a new oasis for people who want to learn to read (how would that work anyway?) it will be a place where I will share some of the best ideas I come across and help to spread them.... For example ever heard of the newly discovered pyramids in Bosnia? Or the ancient underwater ruins in southern Japan? Maybe you want to know how grow $500 worth of food in an area the size of a parking space... the ideas will only flow as fast as I can type.... This site is for a general list of things I have benefited from through my education and if you would like to see ideas related to Ecological solutions for Food, Energy, Lifestyle, Natural building and more check out my blog: EcoKnowMe
thanks for reading and stay posted for new ideas and videos
